CHASE - Cork Harbour Alliance For A Safe Environment
www.chaseireland.org

20 October, 2012

STATEMENT BY CHASE REGARDING INDAVERS ANNOUNCEMENT OF A 3RD INCINERATOR APPLICATION

The arrogance and lack of regard for good planning and health and safety by Indaver is shocking. We are appalled that they intend to to reapply on the Ringaskiddy site, ignoring concerns for human safety expressed by Peter Daly, Chief Emergency Planning Officer at the HSE about the site’s proximity to the Maritime College in the event of an explosion or incident.

Regardless of the state of waste planning, Bord Pleanala said the site was fundamentally unsuitable, with 3 out 4 reasons for refusal based on basic site unsuitability.

Indaver have exposed their reckless approach to human safety and environmental sensitivity by applying once again on a site deemed too small, subject to coastal erosion, and prone to increasingly regular flooding.
