Evening Echo -18/07/2005 The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has delayed a decision on whether to grant a waste licence to the proposed toxic waste incinerator in Ringaskiddy, Co Cork. The decision was expected this week, but has now been delayed until October 21. Local residents are vehemently opposed to the planned incinerator and have mounted several legal attempts to block its construction. The Green Party has welcomed today's EPA decision, saying it hopes the move means the body is taking the local concerns seriously. Party spokesman Dan Boyle said he hoped the incineration firm Indaver Ireland would be so frustrated with the development that it would abandon the Ringaskiddy project. |
