Letter to Irish Examiner
Incinerator planned for a flood hazard setting
Wednesday, November 25, 2009

ISN’T it interesting to note that while your headline (November 21) proclaims the devastation wreaked on Cork by a "one-in-800 year flood", An Bord Pleanála is considering the merits or otherwise of granting permission to construct two incinerators, one to burn hazardous waste and the other to burn non-hazardous waste, beside the shores of Cork harbour on a site prone to flooding on the basis of water levels reached in a one-in-100 year flood.
