Irish Examiner - 13/07/05 COMPETITION in tourism is mounting even in the regions. Contemplation of the honour bestowed on Waterford, which greatly deserved the Tall Ships, only makes it galling to think of the ‘honour’ bestowed on Cork harbour as the site of a proposed hazardous incinerator to accept the country’s toxic waste next to our new International Maritime College. The emissions will come out at the same levels as the upper decks of the large liners we are so grateful to receive to Cobh and Ringaskiddy. Will we ever see the Tall Ships in Cork Harbour again? Will we ever see another Jack Lynch? Mamie Bowen |
