Irish Examiner - 07-04-05 THE former Lord Mayor of Cork, Joe O'Callaghan, says he is incensed by his bin charges (Irish Examiner, April 7). I am incensed that, in nine weeks, any household could put a total of 236kg in a wheelie bin, and 47kg in one week only. Mr O'Callaghan's family may be "adept" at recycling. How many are they - 50? In our house, there are three adults, two cats and a dog. Our total, for seven weeks, came to 87.50kg. I challenge Mr O'Callaghan to let me see how his family recycles for one week. He either needs a gravity lock, a new family - or me. I promise to cut his waste bill in half - and there's no charge. Will he take up the challenge. Will you? Carys O'Neill |
